Plymouth Planning Board Appoints Destination Plymouth CEO to Downtown Steering Committee

PLYMOUTH — March 11, 2026 — Plymouth Planning Board appoints retired Destination Plymouth chief to downtown steering committee. The board voted four-to-zero Wednesday to name Lee Philson, who stepped down March 9 after seven years as president and CEO of Destination Plymouth, to the Plymouth Center Steering Committee, filling a vacancy with a term through June 2027. Philson, who lives at 12 Carver Street and chairs the $20 million Mayflower Meeting House restoration project, edged out Plymouth Public Library employee Maddie Mahoney in a roll-call vote that used a new two-round nomination procedure. The board also unanimously recommended approval of two special permits for a Round Pond property at 57 West Long Pond Road, where owners Sharon and Edward Doonan seek to add a second story to a 1955 ranch house while contesting a FEMA flood-zone designation through a pending letter of map amendment, and issued an advisory report finding that a proposed 5,400-square-foot office and warehouse building at 239 South Meadow Road near Plymouth Airport constitutes a unified complex. A vote on the town's comprehensive plan is set for the March 25 Planning Board meeting.
