Planning Board backs school parking lot, zoning changes
Planning Board · Meeting of August 26, 2026
Plymouth Planning Board unanimously backs a 150-space Nathaniel Morton Elementary parking overhaul, two zoning rewrites and a data center pause. Facilities Director Matt Derke and engineer Tom Porzynski of Merrill Engineering outlined a 90-space addition with five stormwater infiltration basins and solar LED lighting projected to save "approximately $33,000 a year." Nine Bradford Street neighbors, including 56-year resident Dennis Soars, pressed for a firmer fence, with Soars saying "the room most impacted by this proposal is a first-floor bedroom TV room." The board recommended the project with conditions on fencing, granite curbing and sight lines, then voted unanimously to send senior-housing and industrial zoning bylaw amendments to the fall special town meeting warrant and to advance a proposed one-year data center moratorium to a September public hearing.
