Residents Press Select Board on Airport Oversight

Select Board · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Plymouth airport scrutiny dominates a West Plymouth town hall meeting. At a "Town Hall on the Road" session at West Elementary School, residents pressed the Select Board on the Plymouth Municipal Airport's underground storage tank, a cited sole source aquifer, and who funds the airport's private legal counsel suing the town. Selectman Kevin Canty said a pending court order "limited" the board's ability to intervene and that legal costs come from the airport's enterprise fund, not general taxpayers.

Resident Kathy Pelletier said a complaint log showed 63 airport complaints in three months, including 26 early or late flights. Canty and Selectman Bill Keohan sparred publicly over whether the Assessor's Office tracks West Plymouth tax revenue, with Canty calling some of Keohan's claims not "reality-based" before Chair Deb Iaquinto intervened. Town Manager Derek Brindisi reported the Freedom Memorial Cemetery is 95 percent complete, with a spring opening planned.
