Plymouth Select Board Advances Seven-Goal Economic Strategy Toward Formal Vote

Select Board · Meeting of July 22, 2026

Plymouth Select Board moves to adopt a seven-goal economic development strategy covering zoning, business recruitment, and blue economy investment. Assistant Town Manager Lauren Lind led the board through a draft strategy document Wednesday built on the town's recently approved comprehensive plan, identifying comprehensive zoning modernization, a business development concierge, and a business recruitment and marketing program as the top near-term priority initiatives for fiscal years 2027 and 2028. Member Mr.

Cohan argued that housing and infrastructure planning should be elevated to the top of the priority list, saying "if we don't control our zoning because we don't have enough SHI, then we haven't really moved the needle," while member Mr. Bolton pushed back, warning that recruitment cannot wait: "once a business is gone somewhere else, it's not coming here." The board agreed to place the strategy on the July 28 agenda for a formal vote as an administrative note, with a subsequent public joint presentation planned alongside the Planning Board and the Plymouth Foundation.
