Board of Health reviews $1.3M in opioid grants
Board of Health · Meeting of September 2, 2026
Plymouth Board of Health gets update on $1.3 million in opioid settlement grants. Commissioner of Health and Human Services Michelle Bratti told the board the town has received $1,757,534.29 in opioid-settlement funds and distributed $1,355,492.11 through its Plymouth Arise mini-grant program, now awarding 10 grants a year to nonprofits including To the Moon and Back, Harbor Health and BAMSI. Bratti said HHS has been asked by the attorney general's office to build a statewide toolkit after other towns left settlement money unspent.
Separately, Postpartum Support International's Elizabeth Thomas told the board "roughly one in five birthing people" experience a perinatal mental health condition and that 75 percent go untreated. Assistant Public Health Director Margaret Coe reported 169 Lyme disease cases so far this year and six ponds under cyanobacteria advisories. The board voted 5-0 by roll call to adjourn.
