Board votes to keep Subway shut over violations
Board of Health · Meeting of August 19, 2026
Plymouth Board of Health votes 5-0 to keep Long Pond Road Subway closed over repeated food-safety violations. Assistant Public Health Director Margaret Coe detailed sandwich meats held at 45-63 degrees and meatballs at 65-72 degrees, plus a moldy ice machine and a vomit-soiled bathroom found during reinspection; the store was already fined $1,000 and must pass division review and send its owner before the board before reopening. The same meeting, the board denied 0-4-1 (Chair Teri Reid abstaining) a tobacco sales permit appeal from White Horse General Store, citing its 2025 policy capping and reducing town tobacco licenses.
Member Kate Morini separately told the board Eversource delivery fees are running higher than electricity supply costs even under the town's new four-year power contract, citing a $275 charge carrying a $325 delivery fee. Reid, a pediatrician, told the board "there is absolutely no link between autism and MMR," citing 2,566 preliminary U.S. measles cases in 2026 through Aug. 13.
