The Town of Plymouth Department of Public Works announced Oct. 22 that storm drainage improvements on Seven Hills Road will begin the week of Oct. 26, bringing a partial road closure.

The work, to be done by the town's contractor Dig It Construction and subcontractor Speakman Excavating, will take place between #79 and #83 Seven Hills Road and is expected to take about one week to complete.

Because of the location of the drainage work, the road will be partially closed each day between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. During those hours, the intersection of Seven Hills Road and Federal Furnace Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic. The intersection of Seven Hills Road and Carver Road/Samoset Street will remain open to local traffic only. The DPW asked residents to seek alternate routes and avoid using Seven Hills Road during the closure hours.

Before construction begins, traffic barrels and signage will be placed to alert motorists and pedestrians. Residents should expect temporary parking restrictions, traffic delays and daytime detours.

The DPW also asked that residents not park on the street within the work zone from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Access to individual driveways will remain available except when crews are specifically working near a driveway, and the contractor will coordinate directly with residents in those cases.

The town said it and its contractors will try to minimize inconvenience, but some disruption is expected given the nature of construction.

Questions can be directed to Town Engineer Richard Bosse at 508-747-1620 ext. 10125.
