Select Board · Meeting of August 4, 2026
Plymouth Select Board designated the Historical Commission for special municipal employee status, clearing two volunteers to represent outside employers before town government. The board voted 4-0, with Kevin Canty absent escorting a visiting Shichigahama, Japan delegation, covering Patrick Browne of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society and architect William Fornaciari. Vice Chair Richard Quintal Jr. called them "very respectable" volunteers deserving the exemption.
The board deferred its civil conduct policy and a Shallow Pond Road acceptance discussion to August 11. Resident John Joseph argued title research for all 180 Shallow Pond Estates lots would cost $5,000 to $10,000, far below earlier fears. Town Manager Derek Brindisi reported the IT department and DPW are working with Woodard & Curran to protect water and sewer systems from cyberattacks, and said a $1 million waterfront earmark may fund a Boston-Plymouth ferry pilot costing over $10,000 per trip.
