Select Board · Meeting of June 2, 2026
Plymouth Select Board raises water and sewer rates, delays Landers Farm land decision. The board voted 4-1 Tuesday to approve a 9 percent increase in water rates and 5 percent in sewer rates for fiscal 2027, with member David Golden Jr. the lone dissent, warning of the "financial strain on residents." Director of Public Works Bill Coyle said the hikes, the third year of a Raftelis-designed five-year plan, fund a new West Plymouth well and replacement of water mains up to 80 years old. The board also postponed a vote on exercising its right of first refusal on 128.85 acres of Chapter 61 land on Landers Farm Road after a dozen residents, including Katherine Harrelson of the Community Land and Water Coalition, urged the town not to "rush the process." Separately, the board approved a $100 Historic District Commission demolition-delay fee but rejected a $50 certificate-of-appropriateness fee, 1-4, and set new 1820 Courtroom rental fees, exempting small weddings.
