PLYMOUTH — Cemetery Commission approves Mayflower Meetinghouse construction on Burial Hill with strict protections. David Peck of design firm Environmental Partners assured commissioners that all digging would be by hand with no equipment beneath entrance pillars or walls. Richard Quintal motioned for approval, seconded by Matthew Glynn, and the commission voted unanimously, imposing six conditions including hand-digging only, no heavy equipment on site, controlled foot traffic to protect headstones and subsurface tombs, and mandatory contractor communication with the cemetery division.
Water Superintendent Peter Gordon presented plans for a pump station on Samoset Street targeting January 2027 completion to alleviate West Plymouth water deficit.
