Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan Citizen Advisory Committee · Meeting of March 16, 2026
Plymouth's Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan Citizen Advisory Committee approved a priority matrix for sewer system expansion priorities. Chair Mike Hanlon and Vice Chair Michelle Christensen led the hybrid meeting, with committee members recommending a one-point scoring correction for septic systems aged 31 to 49 years while retaining existing 2-point scores for systems over 50 years. Town planner Kendra Martin and Weston & Sampson representatives noted that economic considerations like cost per connection will be factored into alternatives development.
The committee requested an FAQ sheet addressing why sewer expansion proceeds despite functioning septic systems, with the answer being that septic systems protect public health but not environmental quality adequately.
