Plymouth Historical Commission approves mission statement, reviews downtown project

Plymouth Historical Commission unanimously adopts multicultural mission statement. Vice Chair Peggy Baker oversaw approval of a mission statement covering Wampanoag, Mayflower Pilgrim, and immigrant communities across four centuries, proposed by David Furlow and Liz Pretorius. The Commission approved direct communication with the Department of Energy and Environment regarding the Town Square Phase II Resiliency Project after Michael Cahill and David Gould presented conceptual renderings; Dr.
Anne Mason raised questions about consultation with the Church of the Pilgrimage and Mayflower Society, which had not yet occurred. Land clearing began at Freedom Memorial Cemetery in early April, with a groundbreaking scheduled for May and a draft Memorandum of Agreement with the Massachusetts Historical Commission under review.
