PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth 250 Commemoration Committee approved a $4,000 allocation for a Purple Heart Community Event and signage in a 13-0 vote, with Chair Patrick Browne and Kathy Babini having secured Historic District Commission support for the initiative and Select Board approval for red, white, and blue crosswalk painting. The Committee unanimously authorized a working group led by Terah Harootunian to organize an event at Parting Ways Cemetery in the fall, with Connor Anderson, Donna Curtin, Doug Ozelius, and Cheryl Soares volunteering to participate. A proposed Amplified Music permit for the Purple Heart event was not placed on the August 4 Select Board agenda, prompting Bill Keohan to seek an exception.

The Mayflower II drew over 8,000 visitors during its 30-hour participation in Sail Boston in July.
