PLYMOUTH — The Manomet Village Steering Committee unanimously approved its July agenda and June minutes. Plymouth Police Officer Paul Reissfelder reported eight new officers and 9 percent higher call volume, while Lt. Ferguson noted low incident rates during July 4th weekend at White Horse Beach due to good planning and presence.
Vice Chair Jeannette Kelly reviewed multiple traffic concerns with Department of Public Works Director James Downey: the Massachusetts Department of Transportation declined a crosswalk at Marshlands Restaurant and Florida Street, preferring reduced speed signs and flashing lights; state officials rejected a traffic light at Bartlett Road near the Manomet Youth Center in favor of improved signage. Chair Alice Baker is working with the Select Board and state officials to install a left-turn arrow at Beaver Dam Road lights, which Officer Reissfelder said causes severe morning commute backups. The town continues Full Sail construction with piping and footing installation underway.
