Finance Committee · Meeting of August 26, 2026

Plymouth's Finance Committee voted 7-3 to back a $750,000 land conservation deal and cleared five other Fall Town Meeting articles. Director of Energy and Environment David Gould said the Buzzards Bay Coalition's $6.25 million purchase of 391 acres near Buttermilk Bay would give the town a conservation restriction on 179 acres, with no funds released until the sale closes in December 2027. Member Mark Snyder voted no, saying "I don't think we should spend a penny on this," while Christine Richards said backing it gave the town "a seat at this table" on conservation.

The committee also unanimously approved $17,500 for cyanobacteria pond testing, $10,000 for a Town Forest prescribed burn, adoption of the state's Mullin Rule for all town boards, and reduced borrowing of $415,351 for Jenney Pond dredging. Myles Ramey announced his resignation from the committee at the start of the meeting, citing the demands of law school.
