PLYMOUTH — The Cedarville Steering Committee learned details of a curbside composting program through Black Earth Compost, available for subscription at rates from $15.99 to $20.99 monthly depending on pickup frequency. Ken Stone, Chair of the Plymouth Recycling Committee, detailed a program currently piloting in Pine Hills and Red Brook that will expand after 35 household commitments. Subscribers receive a 30-pound bag of compost annually.

Stone answered questions about the for-profit contractor, compost quality, and truck traffic, noting Black Earth uses small vehicles. A regional composting site is under discussion that could reduce costs through lower transportation expenses.
