Committee unanimously rejects employee health insurance amendment

PLYMOUTH — Advisory and Finance Committee unanimously rejects proposed amendment to retiree health insurance policy. The committee voted 0-13-0 against recommending a citizen's petition that would allow the town to change how it allocates health insurance percentages for future retirees, though it would not affect current employees or retirees hired before the amendment takes effect. Opponents including retired employee Dale Webber and Education Association President Tom Pinto argued the proposal would harm recruitment and retention without generating significant savings for at least 10 years.
The committee also unanimously approved the annual Consent Agenda comprising routine enterprise budget and committee-continuation articles.
