Plymouth Advisory and Finance Committee approved $49,446 for library fire system repairs. The committee voted 11-1 to transfer funds from reserves to replace 510 recalled sprinkler heads and one gate valve at the main library, with one dissent from Mark Snyder. The sprinkler heads were subject to a 1998 manufacturer recall never communicated to town; recent National Fire Protection Association assessment by Encore Fire Protection identified the deficiency after 28 years of passing annual inspections.
Members questioned the oversight and discussed capital planning to prevent similar failures; DPW Facilities Manager Karl Anderson agreed to check other town buildings for the same systems.
