Board of Health · Meeting of June 3, 2026

Plymouth Board of Health approved prior meeting minutes and heard presentations on reducing phosphate pollution in ponds and lakes, boat and water safety, and school-based mental health programs. Chair Teri Reid, M.D., FAAP, Vice Chair Meg Payne, MBA, Barry Potvin, PhD, Professor Emeritus, Amy Palmer, MPH, and Kate Morini, RN, BSN, MSEM, voted unanimously to approve the May 6 and May 20 minutes with corrections. Harbor Master Chad Hunter reported that 76 percent of water-related fatalities result from drowning, with 87 percent of those deaths occurring when victims were not wearing personal flotation devices.

George Heufelder explained that legacy phosphorus deposited decades ago continues to be released into waterways and that climate change is accelerating the process. The Board adjourned unanimously and scheduled the next meeting for June 17, 2026, at 5 p.m. in person.
